The Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care Company makes products that preserve the integrity and effectiveness pure unrefined shea butter. The multinational company, brainchild of Prairie Rose Hyde and her husband, Olowo-n’dja Tchala, also provides fair prices and wages to the farmers and the members of the Agbanga Karite Cooperative in Togo, West Africa. Alaffia contributes 10% of its total sales to community enhancement projects in Togo. They do not use petroleum derived products or parabens, and do not test on animals. Alaffia makes all of the shea butter products themselves in small batches at the facility in Olympia, WA.
